School Community Council (SCC)

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!

Families,

Please join our School Community Council starting in September. Meetings last for no more than an hour.

This committee is responsible for helping decide where to spend our Land Trust money as well as make many school decisions regarding calendars, schedules, and other budget priorities.

Even if you can only come to some of the meetings, we would love to have your input. We look forward to seeing you!

Our meetings are held on the following dates:

Resources

The School-Parent Compact
  • School Community Councils (SCCs) improve educational programs and conditions at public schools. Councils operate using the shared governance approach: collaborative, site-based decision making to meet individual school improvement goals.

The Liberty SCC has responsibilities defined both by the Salt Lake City School District and the Utah Legislature.  Responsibilities are assisting in the development of School Improvement Plans (SIPs) and LAND Trust Plans, The Reading Achievement Plan, The Child Accessing Routing Plan and assist in development of the Professional Development Plan.  SCCs also work on issues brought forth by parents, staff, and faculty.

  • The School Community Council meets monthly to discuss issues that will positively impact our students.  Your voice is important so please feel free to join any or all of our meetings.

Items that will be discussed monthly can be found on the School Community Council Timeline found on the district webpage. We also encourage members to introduce topics that are relevant to our community. Our meetings are very informal and follow procedures that recognize all viewpoints. When it becomes necessary to vote on an item we follow the procedure of one member putting forth an idea and another seconding the motion. Then all are heard with a support of yes or non support of no. We keep our discussions congenially and strive to consider all view points.
